Third last day of January 2010. My first blog entry of the year. Just how time flies, first month of 2010 is already slipping away….
With my focussed preparations for the JLPT2 exam a few weeks before the exam in early December, followed by a 13-day holiday in Japan in the second half of December, 2009’s year-end seemed extremely short to DS and I. We later realised that perhaps it was not a good idea at all to go away in December.
Soon after our return from Japan, I started to have sore throat and cough that developed into bronchitis. What a way to kick off the new year! It took a few visits to the doctors, lots of antibiotics and more than three weeks to finally recover from it. A sigh of relief.
In early January, while I was still nursing my bad cough, we had to rush back to Malaysia for a few days due to the sudden passing on of my brother-in-law (DS’ eldest brother). My brother-in-law had been suffering from diabetes for as long as I have married DS. Perhaps, this was the best way to end his long, hard suffering?
Then, in mid-January, we had to play host to my two little nephews. They have been visiting us every year, for a few years now but I am finding it hard to cope with their energy level as well as their messiness now. Honestly speaking, I felt a great relief after they left. It took me a couple of days to put my home back in order and sparkling-clean condition again, and also with DS’ help!
So, these sum up my hectic and tiring year-end and year-start. I am so glad to be back to my normal pace of life once again! And I hope to be able to share more from now.
By the way, I was in Clarke Quay early this week to meet up with my teacher. I can’t remember when was the last time I went there. It must have been many years, so many years that I was amazed by the transformation in Clarke Quay!
